THE AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ORTHODONTISTS RECOMMENDS THAT A CHILD UNDERGO AN ORTHODONTIC ASSESSMENT AT THE AGE OF 7 OR 8 YEARS OF AGE.
This is the period when the adult teeth commence eruption and is the best time to do an initial assessment of the development of the teeth and jaws. Early recognition and treatment of problems can prevent more serious complications developing. Not all problems require early intervention and your orthodontist is the best person to advise on this matter. The orthodontist will also continue to monitor the development of the adult dentition and will advise on the optimal timing of treatment.
